What is a Charcot Marie Tooth Disease?

Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy (HMSN) or Peroneal Muscular Atrophy is also called Charcot Marie Tooth Disease or CMT. This condition is a group of heterogeneous inherited disorder of nerves that is charactically develops a loss of muscle mass and loose some touches sensation. The feet and legs are initially and predominantly affected but also affect the arms and hands as the disease progresses. CMT is a common inherited neurological disorder that affects about 37 in 100,000 people. Currently there is no cure for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease with all the treatment aimed at the relief of symptoms as a result of the deformities that build up.
