Correct Arm Placement

If you are like me then you worry about hypertension and take all the necessary steps to keep the condition under control and monitor your blood pressure carefully. To get useful readings you must take care to get correct positioning of the blood pressure cuff. Sit straight up with your elbow slightly bent. Make sure your arm is at the same elevation as your chest. The end of the cuff should be placed about one inch above the elbow. Use the same arm every time and for more accurate results take two readings several minutes apart and average the two. Take readings in the morning and evening.
