Epilepsy research in North America for Pregnant Women

Epilepsy is a condition that can affect anyone, regardless of the gender, age, and race. Pregnant women can also be affected with epilepsy. According to the epilepsy research in North America by the North American Antiepileptic Drug Pregnancy Registry, pregnant women should be wary about the increasing cases of oral clefts in infants born to women who have epilepsy and were taking antiepileptic drugs while they were pregnant. This research is also backed up by the US Food and Drugs Administration. Birth defects can really occur when pregnant women are taking antiepileptic drugs. They might consider taking alternative medications as they have lower risks to cause birth defects.
