Russian is considered a Slavic language, is closely related to Ukrainian and Belarusian, and is spoke throughout the is the primary language of communication throughout the former Soviet Union. Outside of the former Soviet Union, Russian was also taught in schools throughout Europe and particularly in eastern European countries that were under heavy Russian influence. Because the Russian language was spoken over a vast geographic terrain, two dialects of Russian emerged that became known as the Southern and Central varieties. However, today’s Russian Translation Services specialists primarily concentrate on the Central Russian dialect that is spoken in the major Russian cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg.
